Confession:
The Streets & Parks guys came out to trim away an enormous fallen branch. It had been dead and barkless for a long time. The fierce winds of Wednesday night toppled it. My friend Jan called. Suddenly I realized that I had been hearing the sharp skinny whine of the chainsaw for a long time. When I looked out the window ALL of the branches were gone. The box elder had been scalped. Just the 70 year old trunk remained. I wanted to go out and strap myself to the tree. It was too late. The logs, piled neatly on the parkway, were hollowed out by disease. I was so stressed out that I went to sleep. One of my guardians was gone.
Now I am searching for a chainsaw man to do some art on it so the village won't cut the rest of it down. I am thinking two elegant bird wings would be appropriate. If you chainsaw, please contact me.

Confession:
I once ran over a raccoon. He was so huge the right side of my car lifted off the ground. I was on my way to a wake. The raccoon event made me sick to my stomach for over a year. Not because it was a raccoon, per se. But because it must have been a grandfather or grandmother raccoon. My brother says that I shouldn't worry about it so much. "The raccoon suicided right in front of you. You have no control over that." It was bad though. Plus I imagine running over a person must feel similar.

6. To Die For
Nicole Kidman is great in this piece about a wacky suburbanite weathergirl who wants to off her husband played by Matt Dillan. Nicole plays a black widow, acting all stoopid and innocent when underneath she is a master manipulator. She plays soe young boys who are basically willing to do anything to keep having sex with her. Very good as a character portrait. Funny in an odd little way.
