I just finished watching a movie starring Bill Paxton, Bridget Fonda, and Oliver Pratt. It was horrible. Surely they didn't think: "Let's make something fresh and interesting!"
It seems like it was more like...a quick call to their agent..."I need cash to buy a new villa in Tuscany...a new Ferrari...more bling."
Moviemaking doesn't seem to have much to do with art anymore (kinda like MTV has little to do with music anymore) it's all about the money. Your money flowing into their pockets.
